An Operator Licence Awareness Training course (OLAT) provides a comprehensive overview of the operator licensing systems and the legal undertakings that apply to transport operators.

Topics covered include:-

1. Operator Licensing – Application; Conditions; Notifiable Changes; Legal Responsibilities
2. Safe Loading of Vehicles – including calculation of payload and safe load distribution
3. Weights and Dimensions of Vehicles
4. Drivers Hours – includes current legislation with respect to EU Drivers’ Hours and the Road Transport Working Time Directive; Drivers’ Hours’ Records for Analogue and Digital Tachographs; Working Time Directive for non- driving personnel; Planning Safe Overnight Parking
5. Driver Licensing
6. Traffic Regulations and Speed Limits
7. Planned Preventive Maintenance – including Drivers’ Defect Reporting; Enforcement (Fleet Inspections and Road Side Checks); OCRS

REC can now offer the Level 3 Transport Managers Qualification. We have just completed our first course and have booked some more dates in our diary for a couple more in 2022.

Further details on the course:

Any applicant for a standard national or a standard international goods vehicle operator’s licence must meet the required level of professional competency expected by the Traffic Commissioner, or must employ a transport manager who meets this requirement.

The Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers (CPC) is the qualification that shows the Traffic Commissioner that this requirement has been met.

To gain the CPC for Transport Managers, candidates must pass two exams which are set by the C.I.L.T exam board.

The Multiple Choice exam consists of 60 questions, all of which have four possible answers. Candidates must identify the correct answer and mark the paper accordingly. This is not an open book exam, meaning that no notes or revision materials are allowed to be taken into the exam room.

The Case Study exam is based around a written scenario that is presented at the beginning of the exam. The scenario is based on a fictional goods vehicle operator, and candidates must study the information provided and answer the 4-8 questions accordingly. This is an open book exam, meaning that notes and revision materials are allowed to be taken into the exam room.

OUR COURSE:

Our intensive classroom course runs for the nine working days preceding the exam, which ensures that all of the information candidates have learnt is fresh in the mind.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID

Here at REC we take First Aid very seriously and believe that we can all benefit from having First Aid skills that we can use to help somebody in need. Whether its a loved one, a work colleague or a member of the public our responce and actions could help save lives.

Therefore we have been working hard with an external trainer to be able to arrange a 3 day First Aid course which will be held here at our unit in South Molton on Monday 4th - Wednesday 11th April.
