Asbestos Awareness Training

Essential training for employees whose work has potential to cause them to be exposed to asbestos. Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Reg's 2006 (CAR 2006) places a requirement upon employers to ensure any staff at risk of exposure to asbestos have recieved suitable and adequate asbestos awareness training alerting them to the potential dangers they might face and also informing them of the procedures they should follow when working in close vicinity to asbestos containing materials (ACMs).

Certain groups of workers are deemed to be at especially high risk from exposure to asbestos, For that reason asbestos training is especially reccommended for persons involved in the following trades and industries:

  • Staff involved in general maintenance
  • Plumbers electricians & carpenters
  • Painting & decorating contractors
  • Construction workers & demolition crews
  • Plasterers, gas fitters, & joiners
  • Telecom & networking engineers
  • Ventilation & heating contractors
  • Roofing contractors
  • Surveyors & architects
  • Burglar, smoke, & fire alarm engineers

Asbestos awareness training includes information concerning following topics:
The fibrous properties different types of asbestos and their relation to effects on health. (The course also underlines the increased chance of lung cancer when that smokers have when exposed to asbestos). Common uses of asbestos and ACMs relation to buildings and plant. Procedures for dealing with an emergency such as the event of an uncontrolled escape of asbestos containing dust in the workplace. Steps for minimising the risks associated with asbestos. The asbestos awareness course has a duration of half a day. We can conduct the training at your premises or alternatively at a local venue.
