| Display Screen Equipment (DSE) |
|
Nowadays most companies use display screen equipment (DSE) and visual display units (VDU), they are an integral part of modern business, but did you know that incorrectly installed and un-ergonomic workstations can cause serious injuries including repetetive strain injuries (RSI's) and upper limb disorders (ULD's)other symtoms can also include back pain and eye strain. These issues can be easily avoided by the application of good practice. Re Consultancy Provides DSE training and assessment. Display screen equipment (DSE) is a term used to cover any equipment that has a screen capable of displaying information. The most common example of DSE found in the workplace would be computer monitors. Surveys have revealed that high percentages of people who use DSE at work experience aches, pains and eye strain. For the vast majority of workers affected, these conditions are not indicative of any severe health issue, but it is a good idea to take steps to correct the causes of these problems. The Health and Safety (DSE) Reg's are intended to safeguard the health of persons who use DSE in the course of their daily work activities. This is not to say that working with DSE is dangerous, as that is simply not true, the risks that are accosiated with DSE are easily reduced by the user taking a few simple factors into account when setting up their workstation, and taking regular breaks if they are an intensive DSE user. The Regulations were created because of the huge number of persons who use DSE in their daily work activities, Because of this figure, there is a possibility to improve the comfort of a large number of individuals by putting a few basic precautions into place.
